The Scriptures say “Love is patient.” God, how can I be patient when I experience injustice? God, teach me to patient without being silent or inactive. The Scriptures say “Love is kind.” God, how can I be kind as I confront what is evil?” God, teach me to love my enemy. The Scriptures say “Love is not jealous.” God, how can I not be jealous of those who have so much wealth or power or control? God, teach me to keep my values straight. The Scriptures say “Love is not pompous.” God, how can I not be pompous when I am speaking truth to those who seem so wrong? God, teach me to know how to both speak and listen. The Scriptures say “Love is not inflated.” God, how can I not be inflated with righteousness in the cause of justice? God, teach me to know my limits, that I make mistakes and that I don’t always see clearly. The Scriptures say “Love is not rude.” God, how can I be gracious but also committed to what is right? God, teach me to respect all my sisters and brothers. The Scriptures say “Love does not seek its own interests.” God, how can I move beyond my own limits and desires and needs? God, teach me to understand the needs and perspectives of others, especially the poor. The Scriptures say “Love is not quick-tempered.” God, how can I learn from my anger? God, teach me to learn from my strongest emotions. The Scriptures say “Love does not brood over injury.” God, how can I not get discouraged by all the hurts and injuries in our world? God, teach me to move forward and get into action for what is right. The Scriptures say “Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.” God, how can I stop thinking of what helps my side to win and the other side to lose? God, teach me to practice a love that wants the truth to win for all people. The Scriptures say “Love bears all things.” God, how can I bear the stress of trying so hard to do what is right? God, teach me to let go and to trust in your wisdom. The Scriptures say “Love believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” God, how can I possibly love? God, teach me that I don’t love alone, But rather in community with you and with all my sisters and brothers. The Scriptures say “love never fails.” God, how is it that I sometimes feel failure? How can I believe? God, teach me to love with a heart as big as the world And to receive love and help with a big a heart. Amen.

"There", as you have used it, is declarative. THERE is my love, with God.
"Their", designates ownership. Their love is with Israel.
You said, "There talking holocaust." It makes everything you say appear to come from a seriously undereducated individual or a child.

I believe that Christ REALLY saved us with his life. To walk in Christ's path seems a much more powerful action for a Christian to undertake, than to do a lifetime of pennance, born in debt for his death on the cross. I believe anyone can attempt to live Christ-like without ever stepping foot inside a Western church. Granted, baptism and communion have their ritual importance, but studying the gospels and LIVING them is powerful evidence of the power of Jesus' incarnation and becoming Christ.

Zephyrus, after our last exchange, I'd say you've come leaps and bounds in your discussions onhere, and I have learned a thing or two about tolerance. I have recognized in myself on this webpage that when I presume there will be conflict, there usually is. You have proven yourself to be a pretty cool cucumber, and while I personally disagree with the absence of Christ in your life, I respect your determination to live your life your own way, and DECIDE to engage conflictual POV's peaceably.

RE: Govt. takeover of Fannie and Freddie: In addition to the new financing facility, Treasury said it will take an equity stake in the two firms through senior preferred equity shares and warrants. "Under the terms of the agreement, common and preferred shareholders bear losses ahead of the new government senior preferred shares," Paulson said.
-Now THAT just makes me angry. Protect the fat cats and let the common shareholder fall. I suppose I am not surprised by this.

Hello Zephyrus, just dropping through briefly, to leave a couple of thoughts. Not sure what to make of this mortgage take over. Protecting big money? No one wants to see the entire house of cards go down, but investors understand that they take a risk when they put up their money, and when the market swings wildly, they could stand to lose money. The government seems to be sticking fingers in the leaky dike every which way they are able.
Otherwise, beautiful day here. Hope yours is nice too.

While I understand they are trying to prevent a complete meltdown, is it ever a good thing when the government seizes control of an otherwise privatized industry? I thought true conservatives were for LESS government, not MORE. Hands off, not hands on. Taxes will pay for the folly. Will the government ever give it back to the marketplace?

Good night all. I actually feel much better just for venting. Zephyrus, I tried to walk a few steps in your shoes tonight and just vent. Just wanted you to know that I am grateful for your nice note. Stay feisty. We all need to be put under the light sometimes, I guess.

Ultimately, my greatest fear is that children will grow up to be highly dependent non-thinkers. I already see it happening. There will be millions of "castrated" men that cannot pitch a tent or find an edible berry in the forest, but they will be bent on stepping over each other for more material want and glitter. They will not care enough for their fellow citizen, they'll shrug at a domestic disaster like New Orleans, but lose sleep over the well being of dependent 3rd world nations.

Thank you Mister Seven, it is good to know I am not alone in my concerns for the future of our youth. I was happy to see your thoughts and I say you are quite right: It DOES take an adult to raise a child to adulthood. I DO fear that today we have emotionally undeveloped adults trying to raise kids. They are trying to be their friends and not their parents.
Maybe I will refrain from pounding the site with scripture? (Chuckles at himself)
-Cragg

People make jokes and reduce men to stereotypes all over the media these days, but we grew up admiring astronauts, firemen, cowboys!, and even the day laborer that could throw a cinder block for twenty yards because they were men. Why are kids being taught to avoid sweat unless it makes their abs look like an underwear commercial model? How is that promoting heterosexuality or even male leadership? Sure, we found out during the Vietnam era that we are not all John Waynes, but we were still men.
-Cragg

A boy that is kept in a desk all day and then made to study all night may as well be castrated. Boys have to skin their knees, kick a ball, tackle each other, or just look at the bugs that live under the rocks. Girls need the same, I suppose, but it is in boys that I fear we will see the worst effects. A boy that misses his youth stuck in a desk will not grow up to be a man. He may not be gay,(though I believe the chances are greater!) he WILL have missed out on a crucial ingredient of his youth.
-Cragg
Yes, Zephyrus, I agree that today's public school system forms children into efficient workers. If they are taught young that there is no time for recess and they have to sit in a desk all day, then it will make it that much easier for their employer to tell them the same. The child becomes a trained seal awaiting a paycheck. I really believe it is no mistake that school schedules have grown longer just like the average work week.
-Cragg
I never thought I would be saying, "Back in our day" this soon in life. I never saw it getting this bad so fast. We gave teachers a hard time as kids, sure we did, but none of us talked about, nor even thought about bringing a hand gun to school. Most of us grew up in hunting families and some kept shotguns and rifles and gun safes and some in the hall closet. Even in joking, I cannot remember even the roughest amongst us saying anything about taking guns to school.
-Cragg
I believe that if kids were not overloaded with "sensitivity" classes and were allowed to run around a little more they might have better grades and a better sense of how to interact with one another and society at large. They take guns into schools and kill each other because there is no perception of consequence? No respect for their fellow citizen? No respect for their own country? They are taught to admire China's economic rise? They are taught to empathize with failed nation states? Why?
-Cragg
To the children's credit, I think they get confused. They see conspicuous consumption all around them without end. They are inundated with media from all angles, and even recess time has been lost. What child did not benefit from running around, getting sweaty, dirty, falling down, kicking a ball, chasing a girl, or climbing a tree? Today the kids sit in desks all day and the teachers say they still don't have enough time to get the kids through the material they need to know for exams! Why?
-Cragg
Sorry, Zephyrus. Much like yourself, I am venting sometimes, too. I don't want to argue tonight. I just read Mister Seven's posts about kids and opened a valve. All done. Carry on!
In regards to democracy, I understand that it can be tyranny of the majority, but is it still not a better form of tyranny than totalitarian dictatorship? I whole heartedly agree we need change, but to what? Of course I do not think the church, commerce, or even the mob should solely rule, but how else to do it?
-Cragg
I do not trust these public schools with our children any longer. The content has been sabotaged. And I do not mean evolution vs. creationism. There is merit in science, math, and of course reading. The part that troubles me, is the "We must please everyone" mentality of the course load. This applies to liberal colleges, too. Kids lose touch with there own heritage because they are being taught to be sympathetic to communism and otherwise failed nation states.
-Cragg
It does not help if society is telling young boys that it is OK to be gay. The effect is a gender role castration. Confused boys growing into paralyzed men.
-Cragg

Yes, I CHOOSE scripture as my guideline. What guides you? Whatever it is, have you asked YOURSELF if it is WORKING? Better ask your self that again, Zephyrus.
-Cragg
If that is how you treat and talk to strangers you have never met, I can only imagine what terrible things you must tell yourself, Zephyrus. You reveal everything about how you feel inside when you react like that. You are a hurt and angry little boy walking around in an adult's body.
