Not really from Perth WA, am from Albany WA - just that Perth shows up better. Enjoyed Life of Pi and Lovely Bones - not as deep as some here, but enjoy what they have to say - I'm a little blue collar I think.

My friends - it has been GREAT this morning, I have enjoyed your company very much, I thankyou for challenging me when what I write does not gel, but I must now cease the day and continue my journey - the whales are still passing by, I shall sit on a lonely clift and search the breakers - and dwell on thoughts that only nature can inspire - my concern for you all grows deeper by the day. the problem is not consumption itself - the problem is our attachment to consumption - we need to pratice conscious consumption - an awareness of why we buy things and understanding what needs we are trying to meet by buying these things.

when so many issues seem beyond our control we begin to concentrate instead on things we can control and there are plenty of contenders - like what are the new tiles for the bathroom going to be - BUT society NEEDS to deal with these issues that appear BEYOND it's control - war, poverty, peak oil, climate change, gender inequality, etc

to errect the Colosseum required more than 44 billion kilocalories of energy - Rome's energy came from food to feed it's workforce an area that was needed was the size of France our energy comes from fossil fuels and it's getting harder to get -

Hugs arosie - Sundays are the best - working week done - yard etc all done Sat - Sun, ahhh - slowly read paper, go to the beach, buy some fish and chips, sit on the grass and suck it all in - yeah Sundays are great - I am very lucky - or it that blessed?
